a note from a friend ....
"It is true that during emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic, HIV-related risks and vulnerabilities may be increased due to the loss of livelihoods; disruption of health services, family and social networks. Worsening of food and nutrition security may also undermine effective treatment outcomes for women and children as there are most vulnerable.
As refugees are heavily dependent on humanitarian food assistance to meet their minimum food and nutrition needs, but funding shortfalls have forced serious ration cuts in food assistance to refugees so surch kind of assistance is needed even at Kakuma refugee camp. Yesterday UNHCR has disseminated a message that our food voucher is reduced from 1,000 to 500 Kenya shillings, the equivalent of 5$ per month for a person. This would be taken into consideration as at the moment we are witnessing death caused by hunger at Kakuma."
well, if ever i saw a call to action.. perhaps UN staff would help out by taking a cut equivalent to half their foodbill. alternitively 185,000 people might offer 5 dollars to help out for a month with food
food wasnt my focus as education is but if there are no people to educate whats the frigging point of that. challenging times, and tough people i have heard rise up in tough times....
however, how much learned helplessness is there in Africa ? ( and why ? root cause of this state of happiness?
How does one move on from a resugee camp like Kakuma, or is it accepted born here die here like many people around the world. Unline internaions people who are nomads and UN like thurd culture kids and perhaps a lot of millenials, well those that are not like the others at leasrt
